The health and emotional benefits of sharing your life with an animal are enormous, but the cost of providing proper care can also be challenging. PAWS recognizes that families in our community may be struggling to feed themselves or their pets because of financial difficulty. We believe that tight financial times should not break the bonds of love and companionship between people and their companion animals. PAWS’ pet food bank helps Bourbon and Nicholas County residents who are having difficulty meeting the nutritional needs of their dog or cat due to financial burden. If you find yourself experiencing financial difficulty and are unable to provide for your pet, we will be more than happy to help.

Our Guidelines:
Recipients must adhere to the following guidelines in order to be eligible for the food bank program.
- You must be a resident of either Bourbon or Nicholas Counties, Kentucky.
- The food bank program is intended to provide temporary supplemental assistance.

Supplies are donated by generous individuals and business partnerships – we cannot guarantee that food is always available.
- By accepting food and/or services from our food bank, the recipient, all household members, their friends and family agree NOT to hold PAWS, its staff, volunteers, and benefactors legally liable in the unfortunate event the recipient’s pet(s) becomes ill or the food upsets the pet’s stomach.
- We cannot guarantee the quality, freshness, or safe consumption of the food, nor can it be guaranteed that food will be available in any capacity. Food is distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
- We are unable to deliver food at this time. If this is an issue, please reach out and we can see if we can help!
- We are unable to provide assistance to breeders, rescue group foster parents, or those using pets for illegal activities. At this time, we are unable to provide assistance for groups feeding feral or community cats.
- Proof of spay/neuter for at least one animal is required before the first visit. All other unaltered animals must be fixed within three (3) months of starting the program. If necessary, recipients can take advantage of our low cost spay/neuter clinic. All spay/neuter documentation must have the pet’s name and owner’s name on the form.
